lifting leeks
lifted the first (hopefully) of the leeks. we always grow the over-wintering varieties, sowing in spring, growing in a seed bed over summer when we're short of space and then planting out in September, to be ready to crop late winter/spring.
leek risotto would probably use up all the leeks in the garden! this one went in a pan of roasted veg with turnips, sweet potatoes and peppers. trying to be patient and let the rest grow bigger before pulling.
are you going to make a leek risotto? It's one of my favourite, with porcini.
